How to Begin a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ

It’s as Simple as A, B, C…

Steps to a Personal Relationship With Jesus

In our culture, many believe that ‘so long as I am a good person, that should be enough to get me into heaven.’ or ‘God is love, He won’t really punish me for my sins.’

The truth is, none of us are good enough (or could ever be good enough) on our own to gain entrance into Heaven.

Isaiah 64: 6 We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags.
Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall,
and our sins sweep us away like the wind.
Yet no one calls on your name
or pleads with you for mercy.
Therefore, you have turned away from us
and turned us over to our sins.

“Sin” is walking our own way in rebellion against God’s will. When we walk away from God, we walk away from life.

Everyone has sinned.

Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

B. Believe that Jesus Came to Pay the Penalty for Your Sin.

Sin is offensive to God and it separates us from Him. In a court of law, there are penalties for offenses to the law. The penalty for sin is death. You deserve punishment for your sin.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

God is love and His love for you is so great that He sent His son Jesus to pay the price for you. He took your punishment upon Himself so you wouldn’t have to.

Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world [you]: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life

John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Mark 16:16  Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.

Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.

1 John 1:9  But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Do You understand these words?
  • CONFESS – PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM for forgiveness and salvation:
  • REPENT– turn away from your sin

Revalation 3:20 – Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will share a meal together as friends.

Romans 10:9-10  If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

ACCEPT Jesus’ Gift of Salvation and CONFESS-that Jesus is Lord of your life)

1. Admit your need – I am Sinner who needs a savior
2. Understand that Jesus paid the price for your sins and took your punishment
3. Believe in Jesus, Turn away from (repent) of sin and ask His forgiveness
4. By Prayer receive Him as Personal Lord and Savior and confess He is Lord over your life

Will you pray this prayer?

Lord Jesus, I want to have eternal life and be Your child. I know that I have sinned. I need Your forgiveness and pardon. I believe that You died and rose again for my sins.

I now accept You as my personal Savior. I will forsake my sinful life. I know that Your grace and power will enable me to live for You.

Thank You, Jesus, for saving me and for giving me a new life. Amen.
