“Look and be amazed. For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.” Habakkuk 1:5
This has been my theme for the past few months.
Hanging on to God’s promise until God finishes His plan….
Looking for that something new and exciting.
Then as the new year approached everywhere I turned
I would see and hear this verse from Isaiah 43 ..
18 “But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
19 For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
I had to go back and see what “all that” was that we are to forget.
Do you know?
It was all
the good and exciting ways
God had moved for the Israelites.
He said to forget those awesome things because He was going to do even greater things. He made a way through the Red Sea and defeated their enemies.
But here is the prophet giving a word from the Lord to forget all that he has done in the past because He is going to do even greater things in our future. He said we should have Great Expectations for what He is going to do.
We need to be looking forward with great expectation for what God is going to do next. It’s time to getREADY.
Now that really gets me excited.
I’m thinking IT’S TIME
It’s time for something awesome to happen.
And it’s time for us to getREADY.
getREADY for what? you may ask ….
I don’t know.
But why do we have to know. The Israelites didn’t know.
It’s enough for me to know that we must ready ourselves.
It could be the end of days when Christ returns for His Bride.
It could be that He is going to do other things in our lives and in this world.
No matter, I want to getREADY for WHATEVER God has planned.
It more than likely means that we may have more rough times ahead and we should prepare, not only spiritually, but physically, emotionally, financially, etc etc
It’s time to getREADY
for any of these trials because we already do know that trials will come for the believer. It’s in His Word that the end times will get tough for the believer.
I’m going to expect great things,
things God has already been putting into place.
I am expecting great things
from God this year.
And I am going to getREADY
for great things to happen.
My verse for the year will be Philippians 1:20
For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.
So here’s a starting place …
Yesterday at worship, the preacher challenged us to come up with a word for answering the question, “How are you?”
It made me think of a wonderful saint in the church that always answered with “Super good” (And I know that he wasn’t always super good. I knew what was going down in his life.)
But think of it …. what would happen if we all began to give positive answers when asked the obligatory question, “How are you?”
It might just change the world.
It will probably throw some people for a loop.
Then again, it might be an encouragement to them.
I’m going to try.
I’m going to answer “Expecting Great Things”
Watch for my next post series to begin next week,
on how we can getREADY and Expect Great Things.
How about you? Leave a comment below.
I want to know, what will your answer be?
What is your answer to the question, “How are you?”
Expecting Great things;
