My Spiritual Walk

It’s February 26th. How has your ONE WORD for the year holding out for you? I’m a little late stating my ONE WORD. I nailed it down last month sometime, but just have not had a chance to put it down in black and white. My Word?

L – Liability – Work on paying off debts. Do not incur more debt whether financial or otherwise.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:

for he that loves another hath fulfilled the law.

Romans 8:38

E –  Energy – This one is “upside down” because I need to have “more” energy”. I want to work on improving my health, getting my strength back through proper nutrition and exercise. I have been hard on myself about weight loss, but realizing I must learn from the Tortoise and the Hare;

“Slow and steady wins the race”.

S – Spiritually – This is my greatest desire that when others look at me they will see LESS of me and MORE of Jesus.

He must become greater; I must become less.” John 3:30

S – Stuff – Get rid of it! There is just too much to dust or even deal with. I have grown past the stage of knick-knacks and decorations. Whenever we have a chance to vacation. I find that I am liking the places we stay with little or no “stuff”. I want to minimize down to only the things we need. This may not be exactly what the verse means, but I believe we are all guilty of allowing our stuff to get in the way of our spirituality . If we didn’t have the stuff, we wouldn’t have to take care of it which would give us more time to give to God and His Church. If we didn’t buy the “stuff”, we would have more money to give to God and/or the poor.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by

such a great cloud of witnesses,

let us throw off everything that hinders

and the sin that so easily entangles.

And let us run with perseverance

the race marked out for us,

Hebrews 12:1-2

  1. I started Atkins 1 1/2 weeks ago. I’m already losing weight and feeling better! We’re eating healthy food and avoiding empty calories. Amazingly, I haven’t missed the carbs very much. And I’ve already lost a few pounds, not sure how much because I didn’t weigh myself right off but I’m guessing about 7 lbs. I wish you success!

  2. So proud of you Christine. My problem is I’m a sugar addict. Last night I begged my family to help me and not bring home sweets and especially don’t offer them to me. So far, they haven’t been that helpful! 🙂 My other problem is all the medication I have to take! But I just cannot gain anymore weight. I refuse to purchase even bigger clothing. Good Luck with your efforts.

  3. Mandy,
I was looking for an update on your physical condition but didn’t see one. The last I heard you had a good day and were able to play the piano. I’ve been praying this wasn’t a one time blessing, but an answer to our prayers. At your convenience, I’d like to know how you’re doing.
