A Picture of Perfect Love

Picture Perfect Love

What comes to mind when you think of a picture perfect love? For me, I think of my father. He is such a loving man. And my relationship with him makes it easy to picture God as a loving heavenly Father.

As a child had a wonderful relationship with my father. I recall many a time climbing up into his lap when I needed a little assurance or encouragement. He gave me the most wonderful picture of the  #perfectlove of God.  As an adult, I have many times crawled up in “God’s lap” in my mind for that love and assurance. After college graduation, I moved 1000 miles away from my family. I had many, many days of loneliness and discouragement. That image in God’s lap is what got me through! I am so grateful because many of my friends do not have a good example of a loving Father and I have often wondered how I could help them find that picture.

What is Your Picture of The Father?

The legacy, my parents, and grandparents built for me has been a lasting one. And even though I struggled with self-esteem for many years, that legacy was there to guide me and encourage me. Even though my parents aren’t nearby, I “hear” their instructions and I know how to find my way into God’s lap. The best way is through The Word of God. I was trained up memorizing scripture. Our parents encouraged it any way they could and now when needed the file drawer of verses opens up and fills my thoughts and encourages my life.

Proverbs 30:5  (God’s Lap)

” Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”

Psalm 27:10

Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.
