Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground.
He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Genesis 2:7
Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:22
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6
Didn’t get this written in time for the Five Minute Friday: Breathe, but here it is anyway!
God created man and breathed into him to give him life.
We are the only creature that God gave life to in this way.
This makes us different from all the other creatures. We alone have His breath.
We, alone, have the capacity to allow the Holy Spirit to live within us.
God gave us His breath that we might search for him and find Him.
He desires for us to be His children.
With His spirit living in us, we can live and move and have our being.
He is moving in us so that we can live holy lives.
Oh that God would breathe on me and through me so that I can live fully for him.
Just a note:
The Word for breath in Hebrew is ruach which also means Spirit, so man only becomes a living being when God gives him His spirit.
Breathe on me, Jesus!
